Gnosticism: The Defamation of the Ebionites
Yahshua was a simple man with a simple message: Justice under the rule of Yahweh.
If you are looking at our website, it is very likely you have done some study. In that study you have discovered the "historical Jesus" as opposed to the mythological Christ promulgated by the gentiles and gentile church. You have found that most of the practices of Christianity are borrowed from pagan, mystical ideas already present among those pre-Christian peoples. Those ideas are filled with superstition, mysteries, secrets, and a desire to manipulate the divine through some special knowledge or revelation. They seek to spiritualize reality, divide it into evil and good, the initiated and uninitiated, the saved and unsaved.
At this point of your life, and quest to find purpose in this life, are you really looking for more of what you left? More "secrets and mysteries"? Magic combinations to God?
Yet there are still people out there who want to renew this ignorant outlook gleaned from an absence of clear information. They often draw on anti-Semitism and supercessionist theology; feeding on old and new hippies looking for the primitive, and tribal magical spirituality. They search the ancient gnostic cults, the hermetic knowledge, the gnosis, and go shopping for doctrines that support their hippie lifestyle and outlook. Perhaps it will give them what drugs fail to deliver in their escape from reality. And once again the teachings of Yahshua are bastardized into the spiritual realm, where his proactive message calling for responsibility to God remains unfulfilled. They say, "Lord, Lord, I prophesy, I know the secrets, I am cool!" But they still will not do what he asked.
They become Nazirenes (spelled a dozen ways in order to get a unique domain name), Essenes, Osseans, Nazirene-Essenes, Essene-Nazirenes, Mystic-Essenes, on, and on, and on. Some of them are even calling themselves Ebionites, perhaps purposely defaming real Ebionite Jews. Perhaps this is how Christianity itself came about when these gentiles bastardized the name of Yahshua for their own agenda.
One such group, calling themselves ebionites (and nazirenes, and essenes, etc.) has a website ebionite.com with a person named Alan Cronshaw footing the bill for numerous linked sites (in order to exaggerate his web presence). I became aware on this person when he joined the Ebionite elist. He introduced himself as Matthew reincarnated with the "Key of Knowledge" in terms that sounded to me like the holy grail myth. At first he was a lamb, but one who started telling me what I had to do. I quickly saw what type of person he was and he bolted at my refusal to acknowledge him. He told me he would write his own version of Ebionite history--a hodge podge of all his favorite new age teachings and ancient new age beliefs. He embraces all types of esoteric bunk, documents, and doctrines that allows him wide coverage and appeal. He embraces the Christian apostle Paul of Tarsus, which the Ebionites are clearly on record as rejecting outright. In other ways he aligns himself with Christian fundamentalists and writes to Jay Sekulow, and other Christian Right-Wing personalities. Like Paul he works to be all things to all people in order to begin yet another syncretistic Christian cult. We ejected him from our group, but he still sneaks back on to our elist by creating new addresses when his others are banned. He is like the gentile who steals into the congregation of Israel to learn the sacred Name in order to practice occult arts.
The Ebionite Community has been representing true 'Evyonut since the early 80s, and has nothing in common with these parasites. We have no secrets, no mysteries, no magic formulas for pie in the sky, and certainly no leaders who are reincarnated apostles. No mediums or channels, no monks, no spiritualized sin masquerading as virtue. And as you see, we have no fake saintliness, or sweet hogwash. We are people looking past the BS and embracing the holiness of reality and responsibility of our actions without passing the buck to mythology and the spiritual plane.
Do not be fooled. This is the community of Ebionites.
